The town of Thassos (or Limenas as called from the locals) is built in a bay between the capes of Evreokastro and Pachis, at the north-east side of the island. It is the administrative and commercial capital of the island.

At its center, there are both the old and new port, which are used for the daily routes of the ferry boats towards and from Kavala and Keramoti, and for the yachts. Thasso’s ancient market and ancient theatre are a big tourist attraction. At the ancient theatre of Thassos, you can watch many famous plays and other artistic shows.

The northern part of Thassos is rich in forests and amazing beaches. At the center of Thassos there are plenty of tourist shops, clothing shops, restaurants, tavernas, and coffee shops.
